Indigenous communities in Edmonton are co-leading the project throughout each phase with the City of Edmonton. Together, the partners agreed to use the City of Edmonton’s project management schedule - which has five phases. Each phase has its own set of deliverables, which must be met before moving to the next stage.

The first phase is Strategy, of which the E-Scan was a critical piece in refining and informing the development of a business case. The business case is the second part of the Strategy Phase. From there, the ICWC Steering Committee will aim to transition the stewardship of the ICWC project to the ICWC Governance Partnership and help expand the partnership conversations required to build out the business case. Key to each aspect of the journey is community engagement with urban Indigenous community members’ perspectives helping inform each stage.
