Guiding Principles, Natural Laws and Sacred Teachings
On March 9, 2018, Elders Lillian and Roy O'Chiese held Ceremony asking the ancestors for guidance, protection and support before beginning the project planning for the ICWC. The ICWC Steering Committee is guided by natural law and the seven sacred teachings and therefore the project is grounded in Indigenous ways of being, guided by culture, ceremonies and teachings from local Elders.
The ICWC Steering Committee has recently created a Guiding Principles document to help define how the ICWC can serve Indigenous communities living in Edmonton. It is a living document, and will continue to evolve over time.
